Hi! I am Sydney Maddox, and have quite a few years experience both here in Athens and back home in Cochran, Georgia participating and helping coach track, cross country, tennis, and weight training classes for each of these sports. I have always had a love for sport, and beginning in high school, I found my true passion of weight lifting and resistance training. As I began to become more serious in the gym, I became the person my friends and family came to for advice when it came to training and workout programming, and continue to help them along their fitness journeys. Having moved on from my hometown, I want to share with those here in Athens what I know in order to help them find the kind of training that best advances their goals of improving their lives and fitness level.

My name is Michael Woods, after several years serving in the Army as a Master Trainer and a Green Beret, I am now a personal trainer here at Fitness at Five. Since competing in high school athletics I have always been driven to exercise and stay fit, which drove me into the military and years of competing in wrestling and mixed martial arts. It was in mixed martial arts where I reached a national level of competition, as well as an All-American in wrestling. It was in the Army where I developed a passion for helping others reach their goals and change their lifestyle. While serving I was able to help many soldiers reach their fitness goals ranging anywhere from weight loss, conditioning, muscle building and injury rehabilitation. Since retiring I have been training here at Fitness at five working with a wide range of clientele motivating each one to push through their plateaus.

As a strength coach who's worked in the field for over 3 years, I have had the opportunity to work with youth athletes, group classes, recreational athletes, and older adults alike who want to get better in some way. As an endurance athlete myself, I enjoy training runners and cyclists to become stronger more robust athletes so that they can perform optimally in their next race or ride around town. Hello, I’m Tony Gasparro and I am a Personal Trainer here at Fitness at Five of Athens. With over 10 years of training experience I have been able to help clients with all types of fitness goals. Following my training programs clients have surpassed their original goals. I specialize in H-I-R-T Training (High Intensity Resistance Training) which is a great program for weight loss, strength/muscle gain, conditioning, muscular definition/tone up, and for rehabilitation issues such as injury recovery/prevention, muscle imbalances, and flexibility. My coaching and athletics background makes it easy for me to relate with everybody and to find the best way to teach them so that they can learn how to be fit, not just skinny.

I have helped several clients lose and keep off more than 70 lbs. with one of my clients surpassing her weight loss goal of 100 lbs. I have several years of experience in coaching high school sports such as football and wrestling, as well as strength and conditioning. Hello!  I’m a AFAA certified personal trainer specializing in senior fitness and those with movement disorders such as Parkinson’s Disease.  I have been with Fitness @ Five for 10 years and have trained clients ranging in age from 15-85 with varied fitness levels.  My training style is centered on core work, body weight exercise, balance and flexibility.  I’m also a yoga teacher and mix that in as well!
